Coffeezilla Labels Logan Paul’s Lawsuit as a Tactic to Stifle Further Probes

On July 27, Logan Paul initiated a defamation lawsuit against YouTube’s internet detective Stephen Findeisen, better known as Coffeezilla. The controversy stems from videos that scrutinized Paul’s involvement with the NFT project CryptoZoo. Paul claims these videos contain false accusations labeling him as a scam operator.

On August 5, Coffeezilla released a video responding to the lawsuit. He specified that the legal challenge does not pertain to his initial investigative videos but rather subsequent social media posts and advocacy for refunds to CryptoZoo’s buyers.

Coffeezilla emphasizes that legal action focuses on his efforts to support affected users, not his original critiques.

Earlier in the year, Paul announced a $2.3 million buyback program aimed at repurchasing CryptoZoo NFTs at their original sales prices.

However, Coffeezilla criticized this initiative, highlighting a clause requiring participants to waive any legal claims against Paul. This move, according to Coffeezilla, appears to partially address the losses while potentially silencing aggrieved parties.

He argues that the lawsuit aims to thwart further investigations and retaliate against those responsible for earlier exposés.

The backdrop of this lawsuit includes broader allegations against Paul’s business practices, including previous accusations of pump-and-dump schemes.

Additionally, the Ontario Securities Commission recently labeled a marketplace co-founded by Paul as a “multi-layered fraud,” further complicating his public and legal standing.

Coffeezilla describes the lawsuit as “groundless” and “frivolous,” suggesting it serves more to suppress new inquiries and exact revenge rather than address legitimate legal grievances. This ongoing legal battle highlights significant issues within the NFT and digital marketplace, suggesting potential future ramifications for influencers and entrepreneurs active in this volatile field.
