NavCoin (NAV) launches wallet demo. A coin to keep an eye on?

Today NavCoin proudly released a demo of their light wallet NavPay. NavCoin (NAV) is a decentralized cryptocurrency that builds on the latest version of Bitcoin (BTC). With added features and functionality it aims to make mobile transactions both faster and easier. Network fees are significantly lower than for Bitcoin. Currently 0.00004520 NAV. Which is equal to roughly $0.000085.

The NavCoin Core team has put together a demo of NavPay showing how fast and easy it is to use. Our friends at The Merkle already wrote a superb introduction to a coin that’s been quietly residing in the shadow.

It shows why NAV might have a brighter future than its current obscurity suggests. Transactions take up to 30 seconds or less to be completed. Confirmation (the time you have to wait at the counter, with the next customer panting in your neck) takes around 5 seconds. And there’s room for improvement. Here the magic word is — as for bigger brother Bitcoin — the implementation of the Lightning Network.

Linking NavCoin to Wimbledon? We did it.

So being one of the lesser known cryptocurrencies, it’s a coin that can be easily overlooked. Modestly ranked 120 by market cap we wondered; should we pay attention to this coin? Because, here goes.. if NavCoin were a tennis player, it would barely qualify for Wimbledon. On the other hand, especially for the erratic crypto world goes: sometimes great things have small beginnings..

But more than that: in a crypto world that’s dominated by vaporware and empty promises (sorry if I’m being a bit overly dramatic here) it’s always nice to see a working product. Something that actually does what is written in the white paper. Check the video to see which features the light wallet boasts and how intuitively it works. It’s compatible with both mobile devices and desktops. An iOS version is still under review at press time.

We downloaded the wallet as well and fiddled with it during the day. Our preliminary conclusion: the NavCoin core team definitely deserves credit for it (which can be wired in less than 30 seconds).
