Ethereum Strengthens Against Bitcoin as ETH/BTC Approaches 0.03

Ether strengthened against Bitcoin as the ETH/BTC ratio approached 0.03, showing relative strength even during a broader dollar-value decline. Meanwhile, ONDO lost ground against ether, testing the limits of the ETH beta trade.

Ethereum Strengthens Against Bitcoin as ETH/BTC Approaches 0.03

On November 3, one ether purchased approximately 2.3% more bitcoin than it did on October 29. This pushed the ETH/BTC ratio close to 0.02954, marking its peak over CoinGecko’s seven-day reporting window. From that point, ether required an additional gain of roughly 1.6% against bitcoin to attain 0.03 BTC.

The manner in which ether achieved this movement is particularly notable. On Monday, ETH advanced relative to BTC even though both assets experienced declines in dollar value. ONDO, a token watched by traders seeking amplified movement during ether rallies, dropped more steeply than either of the two major coins. Together, the trajectory of these three prices conveys a specific narrative rather than a general altcoin surge: ether displayed relative strength, while ONDO had not yet participated in it.

The ETH/BTC Ratio Shows What the Dollar Prices Missed

Monday’s Bitcoin coverage centered on the drop beneath $77,000. However, evaluating both assets in bitcoin terms highlights a dynamic overlooked by dollar-denominated headlines. From the close on November 1 to the close on November 2, Bitcoin’s price shifted from $78,248 to $76,677, representing a decline of approximately 2.0%. Ether decreased from $2,273 to $2,249, or about 1.1%. Consequently, an ETH investor finished Monday with a lower dollar valuation, yet could trade that same amount of ether for nearly 1% more bitcoin than on the preceding day.

Bitcoin serves as an effective benchmark in this context because it addresses a query that dollar-based charts cannot resolve: Did holding ether yield any advantage compared to simply holding BTC? During this period, the answer was yes. CoinGecko recorded one ETH at 0.02887 BTC on October 29, 0.02930 BTC on November 2, and approximately 0.02954 BTC intraday on November 3. At a 0.03 ratio, a single bitcoin purchases roughly 33⅓ ETH, contrasting with about 34.6 ETH based on the October 29 figures.

ONDO Put the “ETH Beta” Trade to the Test

Traders employ the term “ETH beta” to describe a token anticipated to exhibit more volatile price action whenever ether moves. ONDO provides a compelling test for this concept because its valuation is influenced by distinct catalysts, granting holders governance privileges within the Ondo DAO and Flux Finance. Its market price possesses no inherent requirement to mirror ETH.

Closing figures from Monday demonstrate the divergence between these two investments. ONDO retreated from $0.40431 to $0.38600, marking a 4.5% loss compared to ether’s 1.1% decrease. An even clearer perspective emerges when pricing ONDO in ETH: a single ONDO purchased roughly 3.5% less ether at Monday’s close relative to Sunday. Thus, while ETH strengthened its position against bitcoin, ONDO relinquished ground against the very asset it was expected to leverage. While a single trading session highlights this divergence, confirming a reliable beta relationship requires analyzing a broader sequence of returns.

Two Ratios to Watch as Ether Approaches 0.03 BTC

The first metric to monitor is the ETH/BTC ratio. A continuation from Tuesday’s level to 0.03 would broaden ether’s recent advantage, offering market participants a definitive gauge of the increased bitcoin purchasing power per ETH. The second metric is the ONDO/ETH ratio. If ONDO appreciates in dollar terms while this ratio continues to decline, ether itself remains the superior performer. Conversely, should both ratios climb concurrently across multiple sessions, the argument for the ETH-beta strategy gains viability.

Ultimately, this underscores why Bitcoin functions as an optimal starting point for analysis. Assessing ether relative to BTC uncovered gains obscured by standard dollar valuations, whereas applying an identical framework to ONDO pinpointed precisely where that relative strength terminated.
